Recollections Within is a women-centered community. We recognize that womanhood is not a single story, and that gender identity and lived experience are varied and nuanced. This space is created for women, and for anyone who recognizes something of themselves in women’s stories and feels seen and supported here. What matters most is your intention to reflect, connect, and honour the stories that shape us. That means, if Recollections FEELS right for you, it IS right for you.

Recollections Within is more than a website. It’s a gathering place for women who are drawn to explore their stories, connect with others, and honour the moments that shape us. These questions offer insight into our purpose, philosophy, and what makes this space unique.

Recollections Within is a women-centered, story-driven community. It offers a safe, welcoming space for women, and for anyone who resonates with women’s stories, to explore, preserve, and share the personal experiences that shape us. Through storytelling, reflection, and shared witness, we cultivate connection, understanding, and a profound sense of belonging.

The name reflects our belief that the stories we carry inside — our recollections — hold wisdom, beauty, and power. This community is centered on women and their experiences, while also welcoming anyone who resonates with women’s stories. It is for those who wish to explore their personal narratives, reflect on memory, and connect with others through shared experience. Whether you’re a seasoned storyteller or just beginning to turn inward, you are warmly invited to belong here.


Our mission is to create a warm and intentional space where authenticity, vulnerability, and mutual respect are at the heart of everything. We believe in the power of storytelling — not just to remember, but to heal, connect, and grow. Every story matters, and every voice adds to the collective beauty of our community.

Creating a community grounded in love, respect, and belonging is at the heart of Recollections Within. The answers below reflect our commitment to inclusivity, and the ways we hold space for the many forms womanhood and identity can take.

Recollections Within is intentionally women-centered to honour the experiences, perspectives, and wisdom that come from living life as a woman. Many of these experiences are deeply specific, nuanced, and intimate, and having a space focused on them allows for reflection, sharing, and support. At the same time, anyone who has lived or witnessed aspects of these experiences — even if they don’t identify as a woman — is welcome here. The focus is on real-life experience, not labels, and on holding space for the complexity of women’s lives.

Recollections Within welcomes all who identify as women, as well as nonbinary people who feel supported in a women-centered space. This includes cis women, trans women, and those whose identities reflect cultural or spiritual understandings of womanhood — such as some Two-Spirit people. We honour self-identification and believe that everyone here deserves to be seen, respected, and safe.

Stories are the heartbeat of Recollections Within. Whether you’re connecting with others in the forum, reading shared experiences in The Quilt, or reflecting through journal prompts and essays, this section highlights the many ways we gather, listen, and grow together.

The Common Thread is our private online forum — the heart of our community space. It’s where members connect, share experiences, reflect together, and support each other on the journey of story and self-discovery.

Access begins with our free Seeker Membership, which gives you entry to introductory forum spaces. Our paid tiers unlock expanded access to additional threads and private forums. Learn more on our Membership Options page.

The Quilt is a living, digital tapestry of women’s stories — a growing collection of personal narratives, reflections, and creative expressions submitted by members of Recollections Within. Like a handmade quilt, it is lovingly composed of many unique “patches,” each representing an individual’s voice, memory, or perspective.
Submissions may include written stories, audio or video recordings, photography, paintings, or other forms of visual art — all shared with care, vulnerability, and intention. Each patch belongs to a larger theme or thread, helping us deepen our shared understanding of what it means to live, remember, and be in connection.
The Quilt will be an interactive experience. Visitors will be able to click on visible “patches” within the quilt image to explore the stories and artworks they represent — uncovering themed clusters of memory, meaning, and resonance.
Because this is a thoughtfully curated collection, not all submissions will be included. Selected pieces may also go through a gentle, collaborative editing process to ensure clarity, cohesion, and alignment with the spirit of the project. All editing is done with deep respect for each contributor’s voice.
The Quilt is still in its early stages, and we’re actively gathering stories to bring it to life. Your voice, your art, your memories — they are what complete this tapestry. We warmly invite you to be part of its beginning.

Members in our paid tiers are invited to contribute to The Quilt. Submissions may include written stories, audio or video recordings, photography, paintings, or other forms of visual art that reflect your lived experience. We offer thoughtful guidance throughout the process to help you shape your story with care.
The Quilt is a thoughtfully curated collection, and not all submissions will be included. Each piece is reviewed with intention to ensure it aligns with the heart, tone, and vision of Recollections Within.
If your piece is selected, we may collaborate with you on gentle edits to support clarity, preserve your authentic voice, and ensure your story shines. All editing is done with deep respect and a shared commitment to honoring your truth.

The Journal is our public blog. A collection of essays, reflections, and storytelling prompts from Linda (our founder) and guest contributors. All are welcome to explore it. Members in higher tiers may also receive access to exclusive, members-only blog content.
